In the above tables, the letters d, e, i, ia, ib, m, n, o, p, and q refer to the method of protection provided by the equipment. This is indicated by marks such as Ex em for equipment with both method of protection e and m. Certification of such equipment makes reference to the CAN/CSA IEC-79 series of standards.
